Mobile Application Software Reverse Engineer

Responsibilities

To provide software reverse engineering and vulnerability research expertise as part of a research team based in Melbourne, FL.

This role is focused on custom solutions that allow exploitation of mobile and embedded devices as part of a team developers, reverse engineers and exploitation specialists. The candidates will need to do research utilizing a variety of sources for evaluating both operational tools and processes. Candidate shall provide on-site support in research and development designed to exploit vulnerabilities of adversary technology. Candidates will analyze and reverse engineer source code and binaries of various software technologies. Finally, candidates will perform software integration, testing, scripting and development of algorithms and support tools.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Formal degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or another related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in IT application development with strong understanding and experience in software security programming, and 2+ years in Vulnerability Research / Reverse Engineering and must be comfortable working in an extreme agile environment with frequent course changes.
  • Knowledge of and experience with binary reverse engineering and software vulnerability discovery
  • Experience developing, debugging and / or reverse engineering code for popular mobile programming languages (i.e. Java, Objective-C, Swift, etc)
  • Experience with mobile application reverse engineering tools (i.e. JEB, Hopper, IDA)
  • Experience determining how files are structured, understanding the standard methods for encoding data from Base64 to ASN1.
  • Comfortable viewing, analyzing and understanding raw binary data
  • Experience with relational database management systems (i.e. SQL and SQLite)
  • Ability to quickly write programs to accomplish point solutions in a variety of languages, such as C, C++, Python, PHP, Objective-C and Java
  • Experience working in an agile development environment with short duration tasking.
  • Ability to analyze and decode data packets over a networked connection, and experience with network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark).
  • Protocols – knowledge of how IP/Serial based protocols work and how to reverse their format including checksums, MACs, encoding formats, HTTP, XML etc.
  • Cryptoanalysis – possess an understanding of how symmetrical and asymmetrical encryption functions, certificate chain of trust, crypto weaknesses, etc.
  • Possession of a US security clearance.
